Our mission is to provide a voice for those at risk of homelessness, helping them navigate complex systems while promoting dignity, stability, and hope. Together with our partners and community, we strive to make a lasting difference in tackling homelessness and housing insecurity across Merseyside.

At Step to Shelter Merseyside CIC, housing support is at the heart of what we do. If you are facing eviction, you are not alone. By making a self-referral, one of our dedicated caseworkers will contact you directly to start the process.
We work on your behalf by informing your local authority that you are at risk of homelessness, taking the pressure off you. Once the Housing Options team has completed your homelessness assessment and you are deemed a priority, we will help you set up your Property Pool Plus account, provide a supporting letter, and ensure you are banded as quickly as possible.
With your consent, we can bid for properties on your behalf each week, or guide you to do it yourself. From start to finish, we’re here to support you every step of the way—so there’s no need to panic.

At Step to Shelter Merseyside CIC, our outreach team operates across Merseyside five days a week, providing vital support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping. On certain days, we also respond directly to referrals from the public, who alert us if they are concerned about someone sleeping rough.

On certain days, we also respond directly to referrals from the public, who alert us if they are concerned about someone sleeping rough.
When our professionally trained outreach team attends, they carry out a welfare check, gather essential details (with consent), and notify the local authority to ensure the individual is officially recognised as homeless and able to access support. Where appropriate, we also liaise with local hostels to secure temporary accommodation, though this may not always be immediately available.
Our outreach service is committed to offering compassion, safety, and practical solutions—ensuring no one across Merseyside is left without support.
